It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life, for us and we’re feeling good! Christmas out of the way, a new Chairman in the shape of Dominic Wills, who has been the vice-chairman for many years and lots of new ideas to make the festival better than ever. Bands and acts are being booked as we speak, plans are in place to add a new venue for the Saturday to replace the Railway Inn, which has now changed from a live music pub venue to a more food-style pub. We are going to offer more spots for youngsters and have-a-go acoustic acts, and for the first time we are launching the Folkfest “Acoustic Battle of the Bands”, with a place for the winners on both the Saturday and the Sunday stages, plus recording time in the studio. Applications can now be made via this website, buy downloading the Entry Form.

If you are an experienced sound engineer with a lot of experience in providing live sound to “acoustic” acts, then we would love you to join our team who work tirelessly throughout the Saturday (1st Sept) at the seven Folkfest Venues. As you are aware this is a free Folkfest and therefore we have very limited funds, however we are prepared to pay expenses to ensure that you can eat and drink, and cover travelling costs. Each venue will have a minimum of two people running the sound, and typical systems are analogue mixers, with 1k/2k FOH, monitors, mics etc. Please email us if you are interested. Thanks.

We managed to raise over £80 towards the Fest and a lot of people had a lot of fun. Special Thanks to Martin the landlord, James Crenol for running the quiz, Caroline and Harry for organising the raffle. Chairman Graham sends his apologies for not being there but he was laid up with a bad back and couldn’t struggle down there!
