Yes…. it’s happening on 29th, 30th and 31st August 2008
A GREAT WEEKEND WITH OVER 100 HOURS OF
FREE LIVE MUSIC AND DANCE

The 2008 Folkfest is from Friday 29th August to Sunday 31st August, so hopefully you are making plans to visit Burnham-on-Sea for the weekend to join in the fun.
Tickets will be available soon for the Opening Concert with DRAGONSFLY on the Friday Evening at the Ritz Social Club, from GC Music (01278 794434) at only £6. This is the only ticket event for the whole weekend, everything else is FREE.
On Saturday, we have an amazing SEVEN Pub/Club Venues, with live, free Folkfest music in each venue from mid-day until 11.00pm, plus an EIGHTH Pub providing an OPEN Mic and Sessions from 2pm - 9pm (that’s over 90 hours of live music for FREE in ONE DAY), plus Clog and Morris Dancing, a Craft Fair in the middle of the Town, Childrens Entertainment, Workshops and other activities.

On Sunday, the famous “Folk in the Park” event at Manor Gardens, with six hours of FREE music and performance including the fabulous Sheelanagig, Ember, Bag of Rats, Phil King, Tiger Feet Appalachian Dance Side from Cardiff, BeetleCrushers Clog and our own local Morris Side - The Chalice Morris Men in the lovely surroundings of a Victorian Park Garden. Plus Bar, refreshments, Craft Fair, Kids Entertainment.

You can add us, Master of None, to that list of acts already booked, that’s if you still want us. We’re happy to do it for free as our CD sales paid for the petrol which was great. We’ll be performing in our revised format of a husband and wife Duo as our third member couldn’t commit enough time to the band. The sound will be the same mix of original material and traditional songs and we look forward to playing for you all again.
We’re also hoping to encourage our talented friends from Minchinhampton Folk Club to come down and join us.

I am a Canadian festival organizer. Our event is also free and located in the town centre of our community. Its format is based on British festivals. We even have morris dancers!

I was in Burnham just a couple of weeks after your festival. My girlfriends mother lives in Stonehouse, Glos. and has a caravan near Burnham.
If I am in England for your event next year, I would be willing to participate as a musician. I am hoping to bring my new trio over and perhaps we can be part of your festival. We would merely need some assistance with acommodation and basic costs. I understand the difficulties in staging a free event. I have been been doing ours since its inceptionsince 1993.
Margaret and I spent an evening at the Minchinhampton Folk club and also went to the English session at the Prince Albert in Rodborough and the song session at the Golden Fleece in Stroud.
We had a great time. I have been coming to the UK for over 30 years and can’t get enough.
