Last year’s Folkfest review

(picture of Maya from Dragonsfly, performing in the Park on Sunday)
It’s Monday morning and we are still buzzing after what was the best ever Folkfest in Burnham-on-Sea. A great start on Friday night with Black Friday at the Ritz, an incredible turnout on Saturday throughout the Town to see over 65 acts sing and play their hearts out to a large and appreciative crowd, and a record breaking Sunday event in Manor gardens to finish the weekend off. Thank you to all those people who performed and took part, and massive thanks to the organising committee who didn’t miss a beat on the plan, making it a well run festival. We didn’t see a face without a smile on it all weekend. If you don’t believe us, then check out the pictures on the link below, provided courtesy of Burnham-on-Sea.com (great job guys!), which provides a pictorial diary of the whole event, and the comments below. Please feel free to let us know what you thought of the whole event.

Really enjoyed playing at the event as part of Folk in the Vale at the Railway on Saturday. Many thanks to the excellent sound engineer, he did a fine job. Hope the Festival was a success - it deserved to be! Lovely to meet such friendly, helpful, smiley people around the town… what a nice atmosphere.

Great little festival - we were down in the area and spent most of Saturday and Sunday watching the music and soaking up the atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed Malarchy, Pale Lilac and Ron Trueman Border, please get them again for next year especially a longer set for Pale Lilac, they would go so well in the park with the morris men!

Travelled from Birmingham to the Folkfest. Absolutely fabulous! It was at least as good (maybe better) as festivals I’ve been to that charged £20-£30. Enjoyed my spot at the open mic venue. Good folk audience there showed respect to all the performers. Please repeat the formula next year.

Just wanted to thank the sound guy and his youthful assistant at the Somerset and Dorset for doing a wonderful job for us and all our friends from Minch Folk Club (Richard Cox, Dave Scott, Take Two and Mark Wilderspin).
Only sorry we didn’t have time to soak up the atmosphere as we had a gig in Stroud that evening which we had to travel back for (the M5 was not being kind!).
Also a special thank you to the lady who emailed us to congratulate us on our set, little things like that make all the hard work worthwhile!
Hope to be back next year, maybe to play Folk in the Park on Sunday if you’ll have us!
